Asana Integration

Asana plans the work. Timesheet records how long it took. Connect the two and your Asana tasks appear in Timesheet as todos you can track against, and every hour you track shows up on the task in Asana.

What syncs

Timesheet to Asana

• New, changed, and deleted todos are mirrored as tasks in the mapped Asana project
• Time entries linked to a todo are logged as time tracking entries on the matching Asana task

Asana to Timesheet

• New and changed Asana tasks appear as Timesheet todos you can track against
• Time logged on an Asana task comes back as a Timesheet entry
• Changes arrive through Asana webhooks, and a daily sync catches anything a webhook missed

Before you start

• An Asana account with the projects you want to sync. Logging hours in Asana needs an Asana plan that includes time tracking.
• A Timesheet Pro plan or above. The 30-day trial includes it. See plans and pricing.

Connect it

In the Timesheet web app, open Integrations, select Browse Marketplace, and install Asana. Select Connect, sign in to Asana, and authorize access. The connection uses OAuth, so Timesheet never sees your Asana password.

Then map your projects. Pair each Timesheet project with an Asana project on the Mappings tab. Only mapped projects sync, so you can start with one project and add more later. If your Asana account belongs to several workspaces, you can limit the project list to one workspace in the settings.

Choose your direction

• Both directions keeps todos, tasks, and hours aligned in both apps.
• Timesheet to Asana pushes your todos and tracked hours to Asana and ignores changes made there.
• Asana to Timesheet pulls tasks and logged time in without writing anything back.

Good to know

• Hours reach Asana only when the Timesheet entry is linked to a todo, because an Asana time entry belongs to a task.
• Entries Timesheet writes appear under the Asana account you connected. Asana does not let apps set a different author on a time entry.
• For teams, an optional user mapping files time logged in Asana on the right person's Timesheet account.
• The daily reconciliation runs at 02:00 UTC. You can start a sync yourself at any time from the integration settings.
