FreshBooks Integration

Track time in Timesheet and bill it in FreshBooks. Your hours land as FreshBooks time entries on the right project, client, and team member.

Visit WebsitePro plan and above

Track your hours where it is easiest, on your phone, at your desk, or with an automatic timer, and bill them in FreshBooks. Every time entry you record in Timesheet appears in FreshBooks on the right project and team member, ready for your next invoice.

What syncs

Timesheet to FreshBooks

  • New time entries are created as FreshBooks time entries
  • Changes and deletions in Timesheet are applied in FreshBooks too
  • The FreshBooks project decides which client the time is billed to

FreshBooks to Timesheet

  • Time entries added or changed in FreshBooks come back as Timesheet entries
  • With webhooks registered, changes arrive right away. Without them, select Sync Now in the integration settings to pull them in.

Before you start

  • A FreshBooks account with the projects you bill time to.
  • A Timesheet Pro plan or above. The 30-day trial includes it. See plans and pricing.

Connect it

In the Timesheet web app, open Integrations, select Browse Marketplace, and install FreshBooks. Select Connect, sign in to FreshBooks, and authorize access. If your login belongs to more than one FreshBooks business, choose the business in the settings.

Then set up the mappings on the Mappings tab:

  1. Projects: pair each Timesheet project with a FreshBooks project.
  2. People: pair each Timesheet user with their FreshBooks team member, so hours land on the right person.
  3. Rates (optional): pair Timesheet rates with FreshBooks services.

Finally, select Register Webhooks so changes made in FreshBooks reach Timesheet in real time.

Choose your direction

  • Both directions keeps time entries aligned in both apps.
  • Timesheet to FreshBooks sends your hours to FreshBooks and ignores changes made there.
  • FreshBooks to Timesheet pulls time logged in FreshBooks into Timesheet.

Good to know

  • Only time on mapped projects syncs, and each person needs a team member mapping.
  • A daily sync at 02:00 UTC sends any Timesheet changes that did not go through right away.
  • If you would rather invoice from Timesheet itself, the Pro plan includes invoices made from your tracked hours.
