Notion Integration

Track time on the tasks in your Notion databases. Pages become Timesheet todos, and every time entry can land as a row in a Notion time log.

Visit WebsitePro plan and above

Notion holds your task lists. Timesheet records the hours behind them. Connect the two and every page in a task database becomes a todo you can track against in Timesheet, and your time entries can flow back into Notion as a time log.

How Notion maps to Timesheet

  • Each Timesheet project pairs with one Notion database.
  • Each page in that database is a Timesheet todo. The page title is the todo name.
  • Status comes from the database's status property, or a checkbox if there is no status property. The due date comes from its date property. Timesheet finds these on its own, and you can name other properties in the settings.

Time log in Notion

Turn on the time log and every Timesheet time entry becomes a row in a Notion database: the name, the start and end time, the hours worked without breaks, and a link to the todo's page. Select Create time-log database in the integration settings and Timesheet creates it next to your task database, or pick a database you already have.

What syncs

Timesheet to Notion

  • New and changed todos are written to the mapped database. Deleting a todo moves its page to the trash.
  • Time entries are written to the time log database when it is set

Notion to Timesheet

  • New and changed pages appear as Timesheet todos
  • Edits to time log rows linked to a synced page update the Timesheet entry
  • Changes arrive through Notion webhooks, and a daily sync catches anything a webhook missed

Before you start

  • A Notion workspace with a database for your tasks.
  • A Timesheet Pro plan or above. The 30-day trial includes it. See plans and pricing.

Connect it

In the Timesheet web app, open Integrations, select Browse Marketplace, and install Notion. Select Connect and sign in to Notion. Notion asks which pages and databases to share: pick your task databases. Timesheet only sees what you share.

Then map your projects. Pair each Timesheet project with a Notion database on the Mappings tab.

Choose your direction

  • Both directions keeps pages, todos, and the time log aligned.
  • Timesheet to Notion writes your todos and hours into Notion and ignores changes made there.
  • Notion to Timesheet brings pages in to track against without writing anything back.

Good to know

  • Pages that Timesheet creates show the integration as their author, because Notion records the app that created them.
  • A page deleted in Notion is removed in Timesheet when Notion reports it through its webhook. The daily sync does not detect deletions on its own.
  • Notion stores edit times to the minute, so an edit made in the same minute as a sync is picked up by the next one.
  • For teams, an optional user mapping files time logged in Notion on the right person's Timesheet account.
